The Visionary Design Awards, VDA™ was created to recognize the efforts of visionary international designers who aim to foresee our future lives anticipating our future needs and habits with their practical, well-thought-out creations that will shape our future. We reward the anticipatory thinking and imagination which goes into making a great design.
Farmani Group assembled VDA in partnership with MANIFESTO Co to bring attention to international visionary design and promote the winning designers to the prominent audience worldwide.
The Farmani Group, established in 1985, is the organizer of International Design Awards (IDA), Prix de la Photographie in Paris, London International Creative Awards, and the Annual Lucie Awards for Photography, which has emerged as one of the world’s most prestigious photography awards.
MANIFESTO is an interdisciplinary network of people with different creative minds and backgrounds, from architecture to product design and cinema, exploring global trends, challenges and opportunities to advance innovation and shape the future of lifestyle and environment.

For more information please check the FAQ page.
The evaluation process for entries to the VDA is based on various judging criteria which are constantly adapted to new technical, social, economic and ecological requirements. These criteria are not comprehensive and not all criteria are applicable to each product. They simply provide an orientation framework and basis for judging, which is complemented by each individual juror’s expertise and socio-cultural background.
Each member of the Jury is passionately committed to providing a fair evaluation. Jury members are assigned categories based on their specific background and design expertise. All projects are viewed and judged randomly and anonymously to ensure unbiased and fair judging.
The judging criteria include the following:
Innovation — does the product provide something new to the market or supplement/improve an existing product?
Aesthetics — form, shape, colour, texture, finishing, the material used, etc.
Functionality — ease of use, safety, maintenance, etc.
Ergonomics — the product’s interaction with the user
Durability — the quality and longevity of the design
Impact — the benefit delivered to the user and/or society by the product
Utility — does the product meet the intended purpose and needs of the user?
Ecological compatibility — potential environmental and/or ecological impact
The reality of production — how realistic is it, technically and economically, to develop and market this product large-scale?
Emotional quotient — in addition to fulfilling its practical purpose, does the product create a sense of enjoyment, satisfaction?
The VDA use a Scoring System between 10-100 points.

How to promote your award-winning product & company ?
We know that social proof is one of the most influential factors in consumers’ decision making. Consumer and Professional (third party) reviews are nearly 12 times more trusted than internal descriptions; the Visionary Design Awards is the ultimate review or testimonial.
Print your certificate and winner badge, add them on your website, share with your community on social media, website and direct marketing.
Add the Winner badge on your product package and design brochures. This is a fantastic marketing opportunity.
Issue a Press Release and send it to your local media and/ or communication agency. VDA™ is publishing the official winner press release on the VDA™website.
Add your winner badge to your email signature: Your email signature is seen daily by scores of people who may not know about your award. Just add a statement that says “winner of the (year) (award name)” so that every outgoing email is also a testament to your achievement.
Add the winner badge to your product design page and product display: share with your retailers / resellers so they will display the signage to the public. This is catchy and will drive interest.
Involve your team: your sales & marketing team should celebrate the achievement to boost their morale and communicate the win to all their contacts/clients.
Consider an advertisement. It’s common for companies to take out an advertisement after they’ve won an award to call attention to their achievement, or possibly to congratulate fellow winners.
Add “award winning” to all company descriptions. After you win an award, from that day on you have the right to call yourselves an “award-winning” company.
An industry-recognised award serves as an independent endorsement of your company’s quality. Winning the Visionary Design Awards is a great competitive advantage for your company and more importantly, it’s an evaluation that will bolster potential customers trust when coupled with your internal marketing material.
